Synthetic Sand Dressed Carpet Turf is a dense short pile that requires a fine sand infill. This kind of Synthetic Sport Turf is much greener in its appearance as they have more Synthetic grass fibres exposed than Sand Filled Turf.
The sand infill is used to support the fibres to within 5-8mm (up to two-thirds the height of the pile) of the tips and it ensures the Synthetic surface has stability. A Sand Dressed Sports Surface has more of the top of the fibres exposed, play takes place on the fibre not on the infill and this improves the play performance of the Synthetic pitch.

Sand dressed Synthetic turf is ideal for Multi-Sport Surfaces. They make good practice grounds for sports such as football but are not ideal for the game rugby. 3G Synthetic turf is ideal for the sport of rugby, as the longer fibres of the 3G can hold rubber and sand infill, combine this with a shock pad below and the pitch would be considered as safe as real grass.
Both Sand Filled and Sand Dressed carpets require regular maintenance in order to preserve excellent play performance and safety. The correct comprehensive maintenance carried out regularly can help to significantly increase the longevity of any Synthetic sports turf.
